Occasionally, there may be instances where an additional session is needed to complete an assessment. This may occur, for example, where there are complex histories that require more in depth querying. Wherever possible, Robyn will advise of the need for an additional session as early as possible in the assessment process. Additional in person sessions are charged at the cost of $230 per session with just under $89 out of pocket expenses for a 1 hour appointment if you have a referral from a GP under a Mental Health Care Plan. This price is well below the recommended fee of $300 per hour recommended by the APS (Australian Psychological Society) and AAPi (Australian Association of Psychologists Inc).
Totally understand! There is no need to worry before your first appointment as we can work out the scope of the assessment that suits best when we meet.
If you or your child have ADHD traits, but no Autism traits, package 1 is probably best, and if you child has Autism traits but no ADHD traits, package 2 is likely best.
However, if you suspect you (or your child) have some traits of both ADHD and Autism, I recommend Package 3. Research suggests that ADHD and Autism co occur quite frequently. In fact, I find that the majority (more than half) of the people I assess have both ADHD and Autism.
Nevertheless, having said that, many people meet criteria for a formal diagnosis of ADHD and have some Autism traits (but do not meet criteria for Autism), and vice versa. Brains are complex!
If you are unsure and have further questions, please get in touch. I am happy to discuss you and/or your child’s needs and help you make a decision. Please email me: farley.robyn@gmail.com
For each in-person session at the Gold Coast Counselling Centre, the fee is $230. However, with the Medicare rebate of $141.85, your out-of-pocket cost will be just under $89 per session. Most clients require 3–5 in-person sessions, though this may vary based on individual needs.
If you are unwell on the day of your in-person appointment but would still like to proceed, you can request a telehealth or phone appointment by calling 0401 299 736 prior to your scheduled time.
The fee for an ADHD or Autism assessment and report is separate to the out-of-pocket session fees and will be invoiced after your first appointment. This assessment fee covers the costs of:
To proceed with the assessment, a deposit is required—this can be the full amount, half, or one-third of the total assessment and report fee. Payment plans are welcomed, and I am happy to work with you to determine what best suits your or your family’s needs.
If you are experiencing significant financial hardship or have any questions, please don’t hesitate to reach out to discuss your options.
For example, if you want to know if you or your child has ADHD, you would:
1. Obtain a Referral
Visit your GP to request a referral under a Mental Health Care Plan (MHCP).
Book your first appointment online at Gold Coast Counselling Centre.
If needed, you can contact Robyn via email at farly.robyn@gmail.com.
2. Attend Your First Appointment
Discuss your concerns and determine the scope of the assessment that will best suit your needs.
The out-of-pocket cost for this session is $89.
After the first appointment, make payment (either in full, half, or one-third of the total assessment fee) before the assessment proceeds.
3. Complete the Assessment
Once payment is received, Robyn will send you the required questionnaires to begin the assessment process.
You (and/or your child) will attend 1–2 additional appointments (each $89 out of pocket).
You and other relevant individuals (e.g., a teacher, parent, or partner) will complete and return all questionnaires.
4. Feedback Appointment
Attend a feedback session to review the outcomes of the assessment ($89 out of pocket).
5. Receive Your Written Report
Robyn will provide a comprehensive written report within 4–6 weeks of the feedback session.
If you have any questions or need further assistance, feel free to reach out!
Reports can not be released until all fees are paid.
You will receive an appointment reminder via email 5 business days prior, and an SMS 1–2 business days before each appointment. These reminders will prompt you to confirm or reschedule your appointment. However, please do not rely solely on these reminders—it is your responsibility to record and remember your appointment times.
If you need to cancel or reschedule, please provide at least 48 hours’ notice (2 business days) so that the appointment time can be offered to others on the waitlist.
Appointments cancelled with less than 48 hours’ notice, or missed without prior notice, will incur the full session fee ($230 out of pocket). Please note that Medicare rebates cannot be claimed for late cancellations or missed appointments. This fee must be paid before any future appointments can be scheduled.
Medicare provides rebates for in-person psychology sessions under a Mental Health Care Plan (MHCP), significantly reducing the out-of-pocket cost (e.g., from $230 to $89 per session). However, Medicare does NOT cover the cost of ADHD or Autism assessment packages. While I remain hopeful this policy may change in the future, currently, these fees cannot be claimed through Medicare, even if you have an MHCP or a Chronic Disease GP Management Plan (GPMP).
Private health insurance coverage for ADHD and Autism assessments varies by provider. I recommend contacting your health fund directly to determine whether you may be eligible for a rebate under your specific policy.
Please note that the NDIS generally does not fund diagnostic assessments for adults who are already NDIS participants.
If you have any questions or need further clarification, please don’t hesitate to reach out.
